This is a reversal of his position earlier in the week. The last thing the country needs is more hesitation and back tracking concerning the national economy. Especially irritating i the fact that Bush has thrown a wrench in the works to help th most well-off Americans. Taxing the people who can afford it should be a hallmark c American tax policy. Instead, the proposed budget cuts into Medi care and raise taxes on gasoline, which will affect the poor th most. Bush has come acroiss as the defender of regressive taxatior that is taxes that affect the lower classes more than the rich. Thi is hardly a politic time to help the advantaged when he has ser thousands of young men across the globe to fight for America interests. When we ask the youth of America to die for the sake of th American economy, the least the rich can do is help pick up th tab. The Democrats are hardly blameless. They have done little t support the underprivileged either. Keep in mind that the origim proposed budget was supported by all Democratic congressionj leaders.
