April. However, he said utilities
and supplies have increased more
than expected because of the increasing
price of oil, a result of the
Iraqi crisis.
Everything from plastics and
paper to carpet and furniture have
gone up in price because shipping
costs more, Wertz said, and the
unexpected price increases have
used funds from the housing fee
increase.
Also, state employees, including
university staff, got a 2.5 percent
salary increase, Wertz said. Therefore,
part of the housing fee increase
went towards staff raises, he
said.
