the feelings of many freshmen,
"The list of organizations and ac
tivities really does appeal to all
types of people!"
So many new things, so many
new faces, so much red tape.
Freshmen quickly felt the problems
faced by all college students:
financial aid woes, running out of
meals before the weekend, and
parking.
"I never realized that people
could be so ruthless about getting
a parking place!" chemistry freshman
Ancie Small said.
Freshmen also learned a lot about
the city of Columbia beyond
USC. The CPU organized trips to
the Riverbanks Zoo and the new
Columbiana Center.
Students also visited spots all
over the city on their own. Some
got lost. Others got mad. "Drivers
in Columbia seem to have no regard
for traffic rules, lanes, or stop
lights! They're crazy!" Stotler said.
Despite the differing methods of
adjustment to USC life, most
freshmen have pretty much settled
in. Ask many new students here,
and they'll tell you they love college
life. Of course, they haven't
really hit classes yet.
