Freshmen at USC offer a ready

the department of Student Life has
established the Emerging Leader
program.
The Emerging Leader program
began in 1988 to introduce students
interested in leadership positions
to each other and also to
skills that^vould help them in their
future roles on campus.
In 1989 it was paired with the
Leadership Mentor program. This
gave freshmen the opportunity to
meet and learn from students who
had already attained leadership status
on campus.
"The Emerging Leader program
offers the freshman several reasons
to participate," said Novella Fortner,
Assistant Dean of Student
Life. "It intigrates the student into
an active campus life, it develops
basic leadership skills and behaviors
which become practical to
