The fifteenth ranked USC Lady Gamecocks
dropped a 70-69 decision to the No. 3 Lady Volunteers
of Tennessee Thursday night at the Carolina
Coliseum.
The Gamecocks had a chance to win the game with
two seconds left, but junior Sherry David's shot
bounced off of the rim.

right there. Both teams had to fight hard and they
came out the one basket, or one point ahead."
A crowd of nearly 2,000 looked on as the Vols
jumped out to an early four point lead but it did not
last long. Paced by junior Beth Hunt's 14 first half
points, USC fought back to tie the game at 18. When
Karen Middleton hit a 19-foot jumper with just under
seven minutes left in the half, USC took a three point
- advantage.
The lead was as much as 11 before two Tennessee
? layups and a three pointer from Vol freshman Jody
? Adams dropped it to 41-35 at the half.
