The cast of the musical "The Fantasticks"
boarded the noon flight to Moscow
yesterday, with their minds full of questions
for Russian college students and their suitcases
stuffed with toilet paper, condoms
and USC theater department tee-shirts
. The 16-member group will return to Columbia
Feb. 1 after performing at Moscow's
first International Colleee/Universitv

Theatre Festival. The cast and crew will be
the only United States university theater
group at the festival.
Alex Chrestopoulous, the chairman of the
Southeastern division of the American College
Theatre Festival, directed a play at
USC last summer and recommended USC's
department to represent the United States at
the festival.
"Being a part of this program is a great
honor for us. It's a wonderful opportunity
for American students to see the historic
Stanislawski museum and the acting styles
in Russia first hand," Jim Patterson, director
of "The Fantasticks," said.
USC is paying for the transportation, and
the Moscow theater festival is paying for
accomodations.
Cast members said they can't wait to discuss
both drama and politics with the Russian
students. "There are so many things I
want to ask them about the shows they do,
the way they rehearse, everything," theater

\0 Howard Hunt, creator of Private
P.O. on Devine Street, graduated
from USC in 1987 and went on to
produce the "Howie" greeting card
series. Working out of his home,
Hunt soon discovered that a home
office wasn't as good as it has
been cracked up to be. "It would
take me thirty minutes to an hour
just driving around trying to get
my errands done," Hunt said.
The idea for Private P.O. can\e
from Hunt's connections with the
greeting card industry. "I had
heard of these things through trade
shows I was at for the greeting
cards, and I said somebody's got
to do it. It might as well be me."
Hunt saw similar set-ups avail- [
able for franchise at the shows,
and decided to start Private P.O.
on his own. The shop combines

copy center and a keymaker.
