CLEMSON ? High school players who 1
are considering signing with Clemson were
told by Tiger football coaches that most of
the allegations made against the program by 1
the NCAA can be proven untrue. i
Dorman quarterback Terry Wilburn, one s
of more than a dozen recruits who visited
the school this past weekend, said Clemson a
coaches "came out straight and told us what a
was going on." t
"They explained the situation, and they
said they could prove 90 to 95 percent of s
them weren't true," Wilburn said. "I believe F
them and believe Clemson is going to come n
out on top of this." s
Malcolm Marshall, a running back from
East Forsyth Senior High School in Ker- t)
nersville, N.C., said the coaches told him tl
the worst sanction they could expect is one c
year probation. He also said the coaches il

i Rumors about Coach Danny Ford's future
with the university have been circulating
in recent weeks, but Marshall said Ford
told him he had no plans to resign.
"He said ... the only way he'd get away ;
from Clemson is if they fired him," Marshall
said.
Ford, his coaching staff and university
personnel have been ordered by university
President Max Lennon not to discuss the
NCAA investigation with reporters.
In an attempt to ease the minds of its recruits,
the Clemson football coaching staff
has been showing high school seniors on i

explaining the NCAA's allegations. 1
Wilburn said he and two other recruits 1
were shown a copy of the NCAA's report i
by Ford. Wilburn said he "just glanced

explained to him by the coaches. He said he
