loss to the Demon Deacons at The
Gamecock
By CHRIS SILVESTRI

The Gamecocks' 24-3 victory
over Western Carolina Saturday at
Williams-Brice Stadium wasn't a
game filled with the thrills and
chills of the Georgia or East Carolina
games.
And although USC head coach
Sparky Woods said the team did
not execute as well as they could
have, he was satisfied with the
win.
"When you're not that sharp and
can still win by 20 points," Woods
said, "it makes me feel we're doing

Two main reasons USC was
able to handle the Catamounts was
the powerful running of Harold
Green and Mike Dingle and a
strong defensive effort by the
Gamecocks.
Green ran for 150 yards and one
touchdown, as he returned from an
ankle injury that kept him out of
the East Carolina match. Green is
now two touchdowns from tying
the USC career touchdown record
of 33 held by former Heisman
Trophy winner George Rogers.
Green said the injury makes him

As the Gamecocks fought for the tying goal, the
