Dingle Continued from page 8 "It didn't bother me. I feel the more I get the ball, the better I'm going to get. I'm more of a second-half player. I just felt real good out there and relaxed." Dingle stayed relaxed, and after an interception by Joe Reaves, the Gamecocks scored their final points, as Ellis hit receiver Carl Piatt for a 22-yard score, to make it 24-17. Georgia could only muster a field goal by John Kasay and the Gamecocks upset the 23rd-ranked Bulldogs 24-20. "We knew we could come in here and play four quarters," Dingle said. "We just did what we felt we could do." Head coach Sparky Woods said of Dingle, "He came back in the second half and held on to that football, ran physical. He's a good back." "It felt real good," Dingle said of the victory. "Real, real good. The guys had the confidence, had an neart ana we just came out ana we played, and that's what you've got to do." Defense Continued from page 8 defense as hard as we could play. That is one of the better halfs we've played. We all came together as a team ...." According to Hinton, who finished the game with 11 tackles (which was second to Marty Dye's 12 for the team high), the key to USC's defensive success against Georgia was execution. "We executed good today and the guys concentrated . . .," Hinton said. "We stayed in our zone and nobody drifted." The only letdown for the Gamecocks came in the second quarter when they relinquished a 14-3 lead by surrendering 14 points and 11 first downs to the Bulldogs.
