Serial killin
'Relentless'
By The ASSOCIATED PRESS
Poor Buck Taylor. He spent his
entire childhood under his father's
authoritarian thumb, raised to be
just one thing ? the best supercop
in the world.
But Buck (Judd Nelson) is officially
rejected from the police
academy for being psychologically
unfit. This is not good. Dad, a decorated
policeman in the true grit
tradition, would roll over in his
grave.
What's a boy to do, with all that
guilt, those feelings of failure. anH
low self-esteem? Kill a few
people.
Buck becomes Los Angeles' latest
serial killer in Relentless, the
newest release from CineTel
Films. His victims all share a common
name, and he leaves the torn
page of a phone book at the scene.
He also forces his victims to participate
in their own deaths.
But the true victim here is the
hapless moviegoer who stumbles

WALK-INS WELCOME. |
Lg movie is
-ly boring
upon this excursion in mediocrity.
It's a movie that's lacking in just
about every way: a weak script
with limp dialogue by Jack T. D.
Robinson; inferior direction by
William Lustig, whose movie credits
include Hit List, Vigilante and
Maniac Cop.
And forget about the acting. It's
like seeing tryouts for a junior
high school review.
Nelson (St. Elmo's Fire, From
the Hip) sloshes through his part
liKe a wiae-eyea creun ? staring
into space, talking to himself and
walking his fingers through the
phone book. There is none of the
calm, demented terror of a Norman
Bates. But Norman had the great
Alfred Hitchcock as a director.
As the hotshot ex-New York
cop who joins LAPD and becomes
one of the detectives on the case,
Leo Rossi is an embarrassment. He
