Tailgating time at the Carolina football games will
be cut shorter this year with the State Fairground's
change in general parking procedure.
"We will be opening our area at the same time USC
opens their parking area," said Rose Kennedy of the
S.C. State Fair Association. Gates will open at 10 a.m.

Individuals coming in to park off of Rosewood
Drive will have to enter through Gate 11 instead of
through the main gate, Gary Goodman of the S.C.
State Fair Association told Spurs and Feathers

After this midway area is filled, the front gates to
the rocket area will be opened.
Game-goers will be directed into parking spaces
and will be unable to park wherever they want to,
Kennedy said.
"Students can park near the rocket if it happens to
be where they end up, but they will have to come in
and park in rows like in the midway area," she said.
"We decided we could control parking more efficiently

As well as changes in parking, Goodman told Spurs
and Feathers that tents will no longer be allowed to
be erected in the general public parking area.
Student response to the change in parking was not
positive.

can understand that they're trying to control the parking
so the same people don't get the same good parking
spaces all the time. But I would hate to see them .

Sophomore Brad Ellinwood also disliked the new
parking situation, but said he understood the fairground's
not wanting to pay someone to stand at the
gate from 8:00 a.m. into the night
"I guess it saves them money, and that seems to be
the new trend this year," Ellinwood said. "But it
seems like all our avenues of good times are being
taken away."
