A pal named Brandon Leard wrote me, confessing "I'm struggling with women right now. I don't know who I distrust more, them or me. It's like a splinter right under the skin, it only hurts if you touch it. The rest of the time you only know it's still there." Never did I know that guys could be this honest! WOW! SPLINTERS! To be able to see my favorite little bar maid on stage is going to be a dream come true. Oops, ong Karla. There are before and after photos of E.T.'s pet girl, Drew Barrymore, who just got out from drug rehabilation. Barrymore "started drinking at 9, smoking pot at 10 and using cocaine at 12." I wonder what kind of birthday parties she had. Did other parents let their kids come? Now, I want to know exactly what that alien did to poor Drew to make her stray so. There is something about this E.T. character's planet that we know nothing about! An investigation is in order. There's a fresh new magazine, The Ghoti Fish, available around town. But both made stunning debuts in Columbia Saturday evening. The affair was the opening of the Ira and Nancv Koger Center for the Arts. The fare was Gustav Mahler's Symphony No. 10, F-sharp major, left incomplete at the composer's death. Various musicians have studied and a few have actually completed the work, including Clinton Carpenter. The London Philharmonic, with conductor Harold Farberman, performed Carpenter's version for the event. The orchestra is world class ? there's no dispute. The performance was virtually flawless ?
