Carl Piatt had four catches for 67 yards and Brooks caught two passes for 103 yards and the two touchdowns. Taylor had three sacks for the defense. Defensive back Mike Conway intercepted a pass in the final minutes of the game. With 30 seconds left to play, Ellis passed to Brooks for the second touchdown of the game, making the final margin a little wider. Morrispn said the team was not thinking about next week's game against seventh-ranked Georgia when they were preparing for the Pirates. "No, I don't think so. I certainly hope not," said Morrison. "I think you have to give East Carolina some credit.
