Angel Myers, removed from the U.S. Olympic Swim Team after testing positive for a banned substance, has headed to Indiana for an independent drug test that she hopes will redeem her, while at least one appeal on her behalf was expected to be heard today. As the Thursday deadline for certifying Olympic athletes approached, family members rallied to her support in her south Georgia hometown. "We have tested hundreds of women who had taken all sorts of birth control pills," Moran said. "The level of substance which birth control pills produce is very easily detectable. We know exactly what we're looking for, what level. "Birth control pills produce characteristics of a disqualifying substance, but the level and dosage (of the substance) is where it (disqualification) occurs." The family has said Myers had a prescription for Ortho-Novum, a birth control pill which has nearly "identical characteristics to the steroid the USOC claims (Myers) was testing positive for." Myers, whose removal from the team was announced Sunday at Los Angeles, already has been turned down in an appeal to the U.S. Swim Team.
