The Sport Club ui is directed by the Office of
Campus Recreation, it offers group activities like mountain
climbing and skydiving.
Here are some examples of what the Sport Club Program
offers:
Bodybuilding and Weightlifting Club offers instruction
for novices in both bodybuilding and powerlifting in
the P.E. Center weight room. The weight room has
machine and free weights. The club sponsors the annual
Mr./Miss USC Bodybuilding Classic which provides
members with on-campus competition.
lhe Bowling Club is an official member of the
Southern Intercollegiate Bowling Conference and travels
statewide to compete in tournaments.
Equestrian Club provides riding experience for its
members at local stables. It is a member of the American
Horse Show Association.
Fencing Club has epees, foils, sabres, masks, jackets
and other necessary equipment for students to use while
practicing in .the P.E. Center. The club also travels to
competition throughout the Southeast.
Flying C lub offers instruction through certified flying
instructors. In addition, the organzation has the use of
two Cessna aircraft for its members which provides the
opportunity to gain a private license. The clubhouse is
located at Owen Field near the campus.
Frisbee Club conducts practices each week for club
members on the recreation field of the P.E. Center. Club
members attend competition in Ultimate, Guts and
Freestyle throughout the year.
Karate Club sponsors activities in the P.E. Center.
Instructors plus members of every belt classification provide
instruction for novice through expert.
Lacrosse Club provides equipment necessary to play

n sport clubs
Lacrosse League games are conducted on the recreation
field of the P.E. Center.
The Mountaineering and Whitewater Club sponsors
numerous trips for club members throughout the year.
Basic instruction is provided for beginners by club
members trained at the Outward Boun .chool i North
Carolina. Club meetings are held in the Russell I ouse.
The Rugby Club has teams for men and women.
One of the oldest sports on campus, the club has compiled
an impressive record over the years. Members are instructed
in basic skills and strategy. The squads compete
in the Palmetto State Rugby Union and the Eastern
Rugby Union and have fall and spring matches scheduled.

and sailing techniques for the novice and the advanced
boatman. Activities take place on the beautiful Lake Murray.
The club has nine Sunfish sailboats, six model 420
collegiate racing sailboats and one Y-flyer as well as other
boating equipment.
The Scuba Club offers reasonable rental fees for
equipment to club members who have scuba certification.
The group has practice dives in pools and travels to open
water sites for a variety of diving conditions. The club
does not offer scuba certification.
The Sport Parachute Club offers competition and
the chance to learn how to jump. All necessary equipment
is provided and instruction classes are held throughout the
fall and spring semester, training students for their first
jump.
The Water Ski Club is traditionally one of the
largest on campus. Team practices and weekly competition
is scheduled for club members throughout the
season.
The Windsurfing Club is growing as the sport
becomes more popular. Seven windsurfers are available
for use by club members. Trips to the beach offer a different
water conditions for club members to experience.

and facilities for students
who want exercise.
"You can check out all sorts of
things, from golf clubs to tennis
racquets to nerf balls, " said Greg

At the P.E. Center, you can:
