Clemson Coach Cliff Ellis gave the Tiger defense most of the credit for his team's basketball victory over Atlantic Coast Conference rival Wake Forest. "This was not one of our better performances," Ellis said after Wednesday night's 87-71 victory. "If there was a time to be primed for defeat, tonight was the night. After such a great week last week, 1 thought we might be in trouble. \ "But our defense is what made this game happen 1 for us. Senior guard Michael Foster leads the team in scoring at 16.1 points per game followed closely by sophomore forward Terry Dozier at 16 points per game. Rounding out the top five: Junior Darryl Martin is averaging 13.4 points and 10.4 rebounds while Tony Shaw is scoring an average of 9.8 points per contest and 4.1 rebounds.
