Records The prolific Husker Du is back with their second double album and fourth release in the past two years. Warehouse packs a full 20 9 songs and marks the group's second release for Warner Bros. On the new album, the Minneapolis-based trio provides a healthy dose of the fuzzy guitar pop that has become their trademark. They've continued to refine their sound as well. The music is brash and melodious to the car, and it's often very catchy. Much like the group's last _ I L -? aioum, c andyapple Grey, Warehouse showcases a band on 9 the frontier of new music. They are extending the borders of musical taste, but at a rate that lets old fans keep pace while allowing new converts to join in. The Damned, Anything, MCA Records It's hard to put into words how good this record is, so WUSC cohort "Zork" is here to help out. Fish: Zork, what do you like best about this Damned album? Zork: For the Damned, it's a return to form. They've gone back to their classic "rave ups." Fish: What do you mean? Zork: Like The Black Album, it's obvious they were once peers of the Ramones and the Sex Pistols. Fish: Yeah, but it still sounds really clean and slick, like their last album, Phantasmagoria. Zork: The last one was great, but 9 ! I EXPER I ALL THE! LIFE AND MOf . GflRNET & Bl GRflPHER. It seems like that record should've come out now, and this record should've come out then. Besides, "In Dulce Decorum" is so cool, it was even used on Miami Vice. Fish: That is a really good track. I like Rat Scabies' drum work almost as much as I like his name. He really keeps the band paced. Talk about rock steady; you should see him live. Zork: Rub it in, why don't you? To be honest, it's not a totally rocking record. There are some tender moments as well. Fish: You're right. It's really melodic in spots. The guitar in "Alone Again Or" comes to mind, as does "The Portrait," which has a really neat piano solo piece. Zork: Yes indeed. Fish: What's your favorite? ^urx: nnyimng is great. Fish: The song or the album? Zork: Yes. Fish: So you're saying you love it and highly recommend people parting with their cash to buy it? Zork: That's what you're saying, but I agree. Fish: And if they don't? Zork: Then I'll be back here next week to talk about why it's been four years since Michael Jackson has put out a record. Fish: Kind of like Boston, huh? Zork: Yeah.
