Foster erupted again for 27
points and Martin had a
19-point 11-rebound performance
to lead the Gamecocks
to a surprising 66-58 victory at
home over the Golden Eagles.
USC then embarked on a
three-game road trip.
At their first stop,
Blacksburg on Jan. 10, the
Gamecocks faced the Hokics of
Virginia Tech.
Hokie Wally Lancaster, taking
up some of the scoring load
left by the high-scoring Dell
Curry who graduated last year,
pumped in 28 points as Virginia

Martin had 17 points and
eight rebounds for the
Gamecocks who lead
throughout most of the game.
The Gamecock's woes continued
on Jan. 12 when USC
traveled to Alabama to face the
Crimson Tide.
Head coach Wimp Sanderson's
Tide washed Carolina
away, 73-63, despite 18 points
from Dozier.
The Gamecocks wrapped up
their road trip with a convincing
75-50 win over Iona Jan. 14.
USC, which improved its
record to 8-6, was paced by
Shaw's 20 points.
