"He always thinks three or four plays ahead. It's amazing how much skill and thought goes into his game." Winstead said he likes to compare himself to Ratcliff. "We're both comoletelv all hustle. We try to make smart runs and be in the right place at the right time." He's one of our most composed players around the face of the goal. Many players, even good players, tend to freeze up in front of the goal. "Doug Allison relies on his finesse and reading the game. He has great anticipation and a tremendous gift for putting the right weight on a shot to keep it from going over the goal." Berson and Winstead agree Allison and Ratcliff complement each other and have benefitted from playing alongside one another. I used to see a lot of double coverage," Winstead said. "Teams would try to mark me out of the game. "You can't mark Allison with two guys because that leaves Ratcliff open. But they still have to put their best defender on Doug because he's the most dangerous player, and that's an advantage for Dan." Junior forward Scott Cook, who scored a winning goal in this summer's Olympic Festival, must also be added into the RatcliffAllison picture. "There's no question Scott Cook has helped both Doug and Dan," Berson said.
