Some students must put out
more effort than other votets
in state and national elections.
USC students who are not
residents of Richland County
must vote by using absentee

Pat Matzelle, a management
science senior, voted by absentee
ballot for the 1984 presidential
election, but was not aware he
had to do the same lor local
elections.
"Now 1 have to take halt of a

A However, he said, voting by
V absentee ballot was very contusing
and "it will be easier to arrange
to get off work."
Obtaining the ballot was difficult,
because he had to fill out
several request forms and send
them to different locations, he
said.
The absentee ballot requires
more information and is a com

Missy Coletnan, an accounting
sophomore, is still waiting to
receive her absentee ballot. She
said she probably won't vote if it
doesn't come in, because it will
be inconvenient for her to drive
to her voting district, which is in
Greenville.
Students who want to vote by
absentee ballot must complete
and mail an absentee ballot request
form to their county voter
registration office, Lillisor said.
I he office will send the request
form to students if they or close
relatives call asking for one.
Alter the request form is
received, the office will mail the
ballot to the student, Fllisor said.
Students must begin this process
early, because the office will
not mail out ballots later than the
Iriday before the election day.
Students can obtain a ballot as
early as 90 days before the
election.
