ednesday's shutout was (JSC's eleventh of the
ason ? a new school record.
USC head coach Mark Berson said the record was
ade possible by the leadership team captain Warn
Lipka has provided in goal, the play of fullbacks
ave Golan and Billy McMullen, and the job Billy
ency has done in replacing the injured Benedikt
reinsson at sweeper.
"But credit the forwards and midfield, too," Serin
said. "You really defend as a team in soccer,
'ithout the hard-nosed, aggressive play by the guys
3 front, none of the shutouts would have been
assible." *
While USC's record-breaking defense smothered
le Wildcats, the Gamecocks engineered an attack
lat didn't let up the entire 90 minutes.
