THE GAMECOCK
USC rem
Michigan
From Staff and wire reports
USC, coming off a week's rest,
remained in the 15th spot in this
week's Associated Press Top
Twenty college football poll.
The Gamecocks, 2-0 after wins
over Southern Conference foes
The Citadel (56-17) and Appalachian
State (20-13), will face
19th-ranked Michigan Saturday
at Williams-Brice Stadium. The
game will be nationally televised
on NBC-TV beginning at 3 p.m.
Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30
p.m.
USC head coach Joe Morrison
calls this weekend's clash against
the Wolverines "a little bit like
David against Goliath."
Michigan, fresh off a win over
then 13th-ranked Notre Dame,
outweighs USC on both the offensive
and defensive lines.
The Wolverines, 6-6 a year
ago, are back in familiar territory
among the Top Twenty, and
Coach Bo Schembechler is soun
ding the usual warning against
overconfidence.
Last season, Schembechler
recalled, Michigan opened with a
victory over then-No. 1 Miami
but the season went downhill
from there. And, with a trip to
No. 15 USC on Saturday, history
will have a chance to repeat itself.
"Yes, I'm more pleased now
than after the Miami game, but

Art of windsurfing
taught to students
From staff reports
USC's Windsurfing Club kicked
off their 1985-85 school 0J
year last Saturday by inviting
all interested students to join
club members at Lake Murray
for windsurfing lessons.
President Frans Brinkman
said the club now has more
than 20 members, including 12
students who attended for the
first time.
"Everybody who was there
sailed and everybody learned,"
Brinkman said.
The windsurfers spent all of
Saturday learning the art,
meeting at the Russell House ^
at 10 a.m. and hitting the W)
water at 11 a.m. The club then
capped off the day with a
barbecue, Brinkman said.
The Windsurfing Club,
which has been available to
USC students since the
mid-70's, will meet at the
reflection pond in front of the
Thomas Cooper Library
Thursday from 10:30-3:30.
Brinkman said the club's

interested in participating
in the Charleston
trip must be taught how to
windsurf first, but everyone is
welcome," Brinkman said.
He said students should call
" 256-2467 for more information.
Membership is $10 per
semester.
