New SG senators

The newly elected Student Senate received a brief orientation
and review of Senate committee functions and parliamen

The previous year's Senate committee chairmen reviewed
the functions and duties expected of senators as members of a
committee.
Within the next two weeks, each senator must choose to
participate on one committee. However, actual appointments
will be made by Student Government Vice President Amy
Houscr after senators are interviewed and committee membership
vacancies are filled.
Only four of the 47 senators in office are returning from the
1984-85 Student Government. Hut. inexperience should not
pose any problems, SG advisor Rob Chiles said in an earlier
interview.

The most popular committee among senators is the Finance
Committee, which was headed by Tony Price last year. The
committee is "probably the most demanding and time
consuming."
Senators appointed to the Finance Committee allocated student
activities funds to eliuihle student organizations. Alloca
tion is divided into three processes: spring allocation, for
general operational budgets; fall supplemental allocation, for
group capital expenditures and other purchases; and
