Goetz's court appearance came one day after he was indicted
on four counts of attampcted murder by the second
grand jury to investigate the Dcc. 22 shootings.
The first grand jury indicted Cioctz, */, only tor reiony
weapons possession charges. He did not testify before either
panel.
During the arraignment. Judge Stephen Crane kept Goet/.'s
bail at $5,(XX), rejecting a prosecutor's request that ii be raised
to $20,(XX).
"1 eonccde the delcnuant nas laiiniuny appeared in couu^p
whenever required. I don't believe Mr. Cioct/ poses a substantial
risk of flight," Crane said.
Assistant District Attorney Gregory Waplcs said higher bail
was warranted because the new charges arc "substantially
more serious."
