The show opened with a reunion set, of sorts, by Colum- n

One standout number was a syrupy piece of mutant funk

Brigade Rossc worked them well, getting the dancefloor mov- <
ing until it was one organism thrashing and slamming about. i
Guitarist John Hathaway and bassist Steve Sonic traded in- |
struments at the set's midpoint. The band will add a new
bassist for a two-guitar sound in the future. i
The second half contained their killer cut. The tune "City of 1
Death" brought the pack to its apex of upheaval.
Humorous renditions of the theme from "The Beverly
Hillbillies" and the Rolling Stones' "Angie" wrapped up
Brigade Rosse's performance. The audience was thoroughly
loosened and anxious for the headliners.
Behind a closed curtain, Suicidal Tendencies tested their instruments.

Vocalist Mike Muir broke into a scat-rap to check his mike,

If any doubt existed as to the ferocity of the band's new
laterial, it was quickly laid to rest. The Tendencies wailed,

of the group to speed metal bands such as Slayer and
rfettallica.
Suicidal Tendencies pulled frequently from their LP, tearng
Striders Concert Hall up with such rockers as "Suicidal
failure," "I Saw Your Mommy" and "I Shot i he uevn."
As their last song before leaving the stage, Muir and company
laced into their now-standard "Institutionalized." The
:rowd slowed their slam activities to shout along: " All I
wanted was a Pepsi... and she wouldn't give it to me." The
powerchords were fat and full, and the audience ate it up.
The band emerged once for the encore, "Suicide's an Alternative,"
which inspired the biggest glut of diving off the stage
Columbia has ever seen.
If the Suicidal Tendencies concert had any negatives, they

for riff of the decade.
The audience was tired when the curtain closed. They had
just been a part of one of the most powerful shows to come to
