Legislature n By Associated Press The discounted "happy hour" alcoholic drink would become a thing of the past in South Carolina under legislation Sen. Nick Theodore planned to introduce in the state Senate this week. Many bars, lounges and restaurants now offer two drinks or more for the price of one during slow or highly com peuuve nours. The "one-upmanship" between bars competing for happy-hour prices "has created some major law enforcement problems, and it's endangered motorists across the state," Theodore said. "It'll make people a little bit more aware of alcohol problems and the state's willingness to make alcohol consumption as responsible as possible." Theodore said the bill was inspired by bars that offer multiple drinks for the price of one, encouraging "irresponsible drinking" and often disastrous consequences on the state's highways.
