was time for me to start scoring, something I
haven't been doing."
"IN KVI.UY game I try to go out and do
better than the last game, making sure I'm
going out and playing as hard as hard as I
can play."
"Mindy has taken a big turn," Wilson
said. "She plays well offensively and defensively.
I'm pleased with her overall
performance."
Injured last season, Dallou had surgery
during the off-season for a torn ligament in
her left knee.
Although she went through an extensive
rehabilitation program, Dallou said her knee
still gives her trouble because of the new
wood floor in Carolina C oliseum. She lias
not been able to spend much time with
wciuhts durinu the season, either.
1)1.SIM 11. HI-.R knee injury, liallou is hav
ing a productive season. In 15 games, she lias
92 assists, 29 steals and is averaging 9.5
points per game.
She is second on the l.ady Gamecock
career assist list with 351 and lias a good
chance to break Sharon Rivers' 512 mark set
in four seasons at Carolina, from 1979-83.
"Getting an assist record is maybe one of
the best things you can do," Ballou said. "It
shows that team work is needed for a record
such as that. To break the record of Sharon
Rivers would be really nice."
Last season Ballou set a school record with
219 assists in a single season, which was sixth
in the nation.
BALLOU CREDITS her fine play to her
teammates.
"The neopie I'm working with arc excellent,"
she said. "There's a lot of talent,
which makes my job easier and taker, a lot of
the pressure off of me."
The 5-9 junior said the team is finally coming
together as a unit, and playing better in
every game.
"I think the team is playing better as compared
to last season because there's more
continuity," Ballou said. "We blend
together. We play more as a team in all
aspects.
"If people would come out and see us,
they would really appreciate the way we play.
Coach Wilson has instilled in us that we
should go out and play as hard as we can."
