Rumor has it that when Pruzin was in the
u.b. Marine corps Dana in Washington, the
group's bus stopped at a railroad crossing;
when the driver began pumping the gas pedal
to move over the tracks, he heard what
sounded like a diesel train engine very close
by.
He quickly braked, causing the bus to skid
several feet. The laughter behind the driver
gave away Pruzin's prank and added another
humorous tale to the fun-loving player's collection
of stories on himself.
It will take every ounce of Pruzin's
energetic personality to get him through his
performance with the philharmonic on Nov.
24, when he'll do double duty as soloist and
principal horn player with the group. He will
be featured on Richard Strauss's "Concerto
No. 1 in E Flat Major for Horn and Orchestra,

ANOTHER SOLOIST, David Edwards of
Greenville's Bob Jones University, winner of
the young artist competition sponsored annually
by the Women's Symphony Association,
will be featured on Prokofiev's
"Concerto One for Piano in D-Flat Major
Op. 55" and Glinka's "Overture" to the
opera "Russian and Ludmilla."
The concert will begin at 8 p.m. at the
Township Auditorium.
This is both the 20th anniversary of the
philharmonic's existence and the 20th anniversary
of Pruzin's first performance.
People who don't play a musical instrument
probably don't realize what a tough job .
Pruzin will face as soloist and ensemble performer
on Nov. 24. The perfection needed to
perform the solo and the endurance needed
to resume his position with the entire orchestra
after the Strass peice will provide a dramatic
challenge to his ability to concentrate in both
roles. .
