It may not be a Clash of the Titans
this Saturday when fifth ranked USC
meets No. 11 Florida State University,
but Gamecoek head football coach Joe
Morrison said the game will nevertheless
be a shootout.
"They will be the best football team
| we will have faced to date, no ques*
tion," Morrison said. "Without a
doubt they are one ot the most explosive
toot ball teams in the country."
At 8-0 and off to its best start ever,
USC will take on the 6-1-1 Seminoles
at 3:50 p.m. in Williams-Briee Stadium
before a national TV audience.
MORRISON SAID his squad will
have to be "mentally alert, on our toes
and ready to play," which is

Gamecocks were not lasi weekend in
USC's 35-28 victory over North
Carolina State.
"We didn't mean to make it (the
game) as exciting as we did," he said,
"but it turned out OK in the end.
"I think our biggest problem was
poor execution on offense and missed
tackles on defense. That's something
we'll have to correct before meeting
(running back) Greg Allen and Florida
State."
Allen and quarterback Eric Thomas
lead the potent FSU offensive unit,
ranked No. 1 in the nation in scoring
and sixth in total offense. USC stands
seventh in both categories.
ALLEN RANKS seventh in the nation
in individual rushing, averaging
121.5 yards a game. The senior
tailback has gained 972 yards on 128
carries lor a 7.6 ? yard average and
eight touchdowns.
Thomas represents the Seminoles'
other big scoring tin eat; he's ninth in
the country in passing elliccncy. The
