The deciding factor is the student's annual income, he said. Single parent students with an annual income of S7,()0() or less can apply for AFDC at the local county office, Davis said. AFDC WILL provide a Medicaid card and about $60 per month to the child. A Medicaid card is also given to the mother, he said. As another benefit, the AFDC program provides day care centers for working mothers. Mothers who work will be guaranteed a slot for their child in one of their county centers, he said.
