Are you interested in movies with a twist, a plot, and some
unique visuals? If so, the Cinematic Arts Committee of the
Carolina Program Union has got a deal for you.

presented at the Russell House Theatre this semester.
The four films, excluding "Vertigo" which was shown early
last month, are classic examples of Hitchcock magic.
THE FILMS were made during a 10-year period from
1948-58 but haven't been available for viewing anywhere for
the past 20 years for legal reasons. All five have been released,
one at a time, since last fall and have had runs in commercial
theaters throughout the country.
The final four films include "Rear Window," a 1954 film,

his native Great Britain in the '30s, "The Man Who Knew Too
Much."
"We just decided to package them because we'll probably
have a premiere on three of them, 'Rope,' 'The Trouble With
Harry' and 'The Man Who Knew Too Much.'" Charles
Tuten, director of Cinematic Arts, said.
"PEOPLE GO to see Hitchcock films because they are
made by him. Anytime we've done a Hitchcock festival,
they've turned out very well. It's a rare chance to seem them
because they have never been seen in the Columbia area

According to Tuten, the film "Rope" is interesting because
Hitchcock shot it straight through. There are approximately
five takes to the film and it is not edited, he said.

ACCORDING TO Tuten, the first Hitchcock film, "Vertigo,"
went well even though it played on a football Saturday.
"The matinee was very high in attendence," he said.
"Rear Window" the best of the five films wil show at the
Russell House this weekend. It will cost viewers $1 during the ;n
