Economics junior James Lafemina said getting students more involved in government is his biggest concern. "I want to have a three-way flow of information where the senator gets more input from the students so. they have a little more say into what affects them," Lafemina said. ' THE GOVERNMENT doesn't represent the students as a whole," he said. "If I were elected, I would try to see to it that every student has the opportunity to speak his or her wilt/* Although Lafemina has never held an SG office before, he said being a lab instructor for the astronomy department has given him the ability to speak with people and understand their questions. Broadcast junior David Lasch said he wants to improve the image of Student Government by getting more students involved. Our Student Government ds a mature leader, not some politician o makes grand promises for the sake of es. My administration would be one of isive action, and honest concern for all of students. What problems do you see facing the stuit body that Student (Government can eel? ik: The major problems facing the student Jy at USC are lack of communication beten SG and the students and a subsequent k of equitable representation of the dents, a student body that is for the most rt uninvolved in issues that effect it both ectlv and indirectly, and also a lack of stuit representation in all levels of decision iking in our university. >G can clear up all these problems with the litution of effective lines of communica1 between students, their government and administration that they pay to run their ool. By communicating with the students, SG can make students aware of what the is doing lor them, and what the students do to assist the SG in representing them.
