Housing for all greek organizations is a
jssibility, but presently the administration
is no definite plans, USC officials say.
"Everything is a big question mark," said
ilie Busch, coordinator of greek affairs. " It
;ts frustrating. You honestly have to say, '1
m't know (what's going to happen).' "
But the university is "definitely eommitd"
to finding a solution to the housing
tuation, said Steve Beckham, chief ex
rutive assistant to USC President James
olderinan.
HOLDERMAN APPOINTED a commite
to look into the greek housing situation
ti campus, Busch said.
"The ideal situation is to have something
>r all 32 greek organizations on campus,
wenty-fou; of 32 have something ? either a
>unge, a floor in a residence hall or a
use," she said.
Beckham heads the committee, which he
rmed "low key" and "a group of adlinistrators
thai have gotten together to
ork on a project."
He emphasized the group was informal
nd had no votes or resolutions. "We have
o formal proposals at this stage. We're iryig
to generate broad ideas," he said. "What
e are trying to do is get the ball rolling."

"We want to do all we can. Until things
scome concrete, we don't know whether to

.erybody can be comfortable with, and then
3 out and do it," he said.

Kappa Phi, Kappa Sigma, Sigma Chi and
Phi Kappa Psi occupy the quadrangle.
Two white fraternities do not have a place
on the quad: Delta Upsilon, which received
its charter in 1983, and Pi Kappa Alpha,
which occupies a house on v\ haley Si reel.
DAVIl) LIVINGSTON, housing chairman
for Delta Upsilon, said his fraternity is
looking Tor a house in the downtown area.
Livingston said an investor would buy the
house and lease it to the alumni corporation,
which, in turn, would lease it to the
fraternity.
Livingston and this past year's housing
chairman Robert Croom had looked at a
number of houseplans, but had only narrowed
the selection down to "two or three"
under serious consideration, he said.
One problem vs ith occupying a house
downtown is zoning that restricts fraternity
houses, Croom said.
