Gray responds to ec
SG preside
By Ann Farmer
Student Government President
Barry Gray replied to criticisms made
in a Gamecock editorial about the Student
Senate Wednesday.
The editorial said students have
complained about cost increases and
parking and computer fees, while the
Senate enacted legislation on ticket
distribution and parking tickets.
Gray said the Thanksgiving shuttle
and the Finance Committee's work
were two accomplishments of Student
Government.
"(The Finance Committee) only
spends over 100 hours in committee.
And, while they're meeting, they only
discuss 90 campus organizations whose

Gray said he served on the search
committee for a new Dean of Student
Affairs, as well as served as SG
president.
He said the committee worked from
June 15 to Nov. 1 and reviewed more
than 100 resumes in "a couple dozen
meetings."

During committee reports, finance Ro

spent 18 hours working on budgets in sib

The committee still has $180,000 to ]
allocate and $210,000 in requests pen- an:

the next three weeks. nla
The budget bill should go to the alu
floor March 21 or 22, he said. A week do
before the vote, the detailed budget
will be available in the SG office for
students to see. na
Academics chairman Steve Loflin <
said the University Bookstore wt
representative had postponed atten- crt
ding a committee meeting until next an
week. The committee is investigating sei
the bookstore's buy-back policy.
Students are welcome at the sw
meeting, he said, which will be Tues- frc
day at 5:30 in the SG office. Mi
Loflin also reminded the Senate that frc
