John Lennon, who's tragic murder has shxl
new light on his career during the past few
years, still breathes life into the present
musical scene.
Backed by an extensive promotion campaign,
the album "Heart Play" is one of the
last recorded conversations between musical
magician John Lennon and his wite yoko
Ono.
The album is devoid of music, which
makes it difficult for the listener to completely
focus his attention, but it bears a special
air of distinction and direction. The dialogue
is simple but sensitive.
The forty two minute interview-LP contains
choice excerpts from a 1980 Playboy
Magazine interview and has been divided into
seven sections.
"Milk and Honey ? Unfinished
Dialogue," a prelude to the album is a
cementation of his hopes and fears shortly

phasis is on the future that Lennon had
hoped for.
Ono's thoughts and feelings take a definite
backseat to the personal musings of Lennon.
Many of the sections are permeated with
sadness as he unknowingly but ironically
diagrams his future.

sophisticated, the locations stretch from
familiar Washington, D.C., to the dark
alleys and bright boulevards of Rome and
Paris. The sets are lavish. Explosions make
one cringe. (A Rolls Royce and a yacht were
recent casualties.) .
One is prompted to think that espionage is
glamorous. Ignore the war-torn areas and

would want to go there anyway? This, after
all, is a spy thriller and part of the thrill,

"Double Fantasy" and "Milk And
Honey" are explained by the couple, as are
many other facets of their life. "Together is
the only way that is fun; we want to be
together." The albums are described as a
blending of two distant dreams and have
ended up as a recorded love affair. Lennon
expresses his difficulty working with women
and reflects upon their musical merge by saying,
"This is just the beginning."
His breakup with the Beatles is also touched
upon. Lennon admits that he mentally
divorced himself from the group as early as
1965 but never had the nerve to break into his
own spotlight.
His relationship with Ono also created a
distance between himselt and tne tnree omer
Beatle members. Anger and pain are not controlled
as he describes how the world confused
and negated his motives in growing as an
artist, person and lover of Ono.
Lennon's spiritual guidance and freedom
are main themes of the album. His surprise
that musical talent still existed inside of him
and gratification to God for inspiration are
intensely sensitive.
"Heart Play" is a probing of many subjects
concerning Lennon and Ono. It is a
must for dedicated Lennon fans, as well as
those who have yet to experience him.
