On-probation Tigers
By Johnny Boggs
Clemson University had three goals for the football season, 1
head coach Danny Ford said: to win every Atlantic Coast
Conference game, break into the Associated Press top 20 poll 4
and beat USC. \
Saturday afternoon, the Tigers' third wish came true as
13th-ranked Clemson downed the Gamecocks 22-13 at j
Williams-Brice Stadium.
And now, with the Tigers on probation for recruitment
violations by the AC'C and National Collegiate Athletic |
Association, Ford savs "the pressure is off. <

"WE NEVER gave up," Ford said, "after losing to Boston
College and tying Georgia. We came back and won all the con- ;
ference games, and winning is a lot harder to do than talking ;
about it.

Robinson said, "I'm glad it's over. 1 can relax, sit back and

The Tigers, however, will have to watch bowl games this

As for Ford's personal plans, the fifth-year coach said,
