' Daniel Management ( By Roni Bea Kayne USC's Daniel Management Center provides professional development and management training programs within the College of Business Administration. "We are a division of the continuing education arm of the College of Business," John Willenborg said. The first executive development program was organized in 1960 when the College of Business Administration was on Bull Street. This college lacked the facilities for proper managej| ment instruction. "Since 1973, a period of evolution and growth created an expanding Daniels Management Center," Willenborg said. THE FACILITIES have grown from the original four seminar rooms on the eighth floor of the Close Building. The center now includes a 155-seat auditorium and nine seminar rooms with the opening of the Hipp Building this year. Seminars, conferences, short courses, workshops and briefing sessions are conducted under the cneter's sponsorship. i 11cy yaiK: piugi piuviuc itui 111115 u^unumuva iw? business people who are out in the working world and need some reinforcement and updating in their education. In order to keep up with new technology, the center plans to develop a personal computer training center. ASIDE FROM those programs offered in Columbia there will be seminars in Charlotte, Nashville and Atlanta in November. Programs are taught by the business school faculty and sponsors and professors from other universities. "Last year, 3.4 percent of all programs were led by outside faculty," Sillenborg said. "Approximately 5,500 people attending the 150 programs offered last year," Willenborg said. The center has sponsored 150 programs since June 30 and plans to offer 150-175 programs this summer. Business management has grown into a competitive system, he said. "Nearly every university does some type of management program. We also compete with consultants, private industries and accounting firms," he said.
