money box at an All-Niter concert early
Saturday morning, but campus police arrested
one after a chase, according to police
rpnnrts
According to police, a man entered the
Russell House at the Greene Street foyer at
about 2 a.m. He then sneaked behind a table
on which was a money box containing ticket
receipts from a concert in the ballroom. Attendants
had their backs toward him.
The man then grabbed the money box and
headed back toward the foyer entrance, but
struck the column and dropped the box. He
and his accomplice then fled onto Greene
Street without the box.
POLICE AND others chased them down
Bull Street to the University Terrace Apartments
playground. One man then ran in the
direction of Marion Street. Police found him
trying to hide in shrubbery at the apartments.
After he was identified by witnesses, the
man was arrested and taken to Columbia
Police headquarters. The other man was not
apprehended.
The money box, which contained less than
$200, was recovered.
Also at the All-Niter, a man tried to rob a
pizza delivery person at the Russell House.
