Usually, a retired professional football player will go into
private business or sportscasting or simply live off the fruits of
his accomplishments. It's not often, however, that he becomes
a concerned college professor.
Bob Morris, one-time National Football League lineman
and honorable mention All-America at Duke University, is
just that rarity as he finds USC's College of Education to be a
pleasant, if not challenge for him.

"I've been to a lot of schools and this program was extremely
unique," Morris said. "I took the idea to Jack and we
started enlarging the whole idea so that we worked with basic
skills development."
THE PROGRAM came under fire this past spring,
however, as academic records of athletes enrolled in the
tutorial program showed in The State newspaper article that
eight of the 28 freshmen football players were bordering on
illiteracy.
