Queen selectior
By Rachel Waterhouse
A bill giving the Homecoming Committee
more authority with the selection and preselection
of Homecoming candidates was
passed by the Student Senate Wednesday.
The bill states the Homecoming Committee's
pre-selection criteria and
procedures must be reviewed and presented
to the Senate by the Judicial Committee.
All amendments, changes and deletions to
the procedures and criteria must be
reviewed and presented to the Senate by the
Judicial Committee.
THE SENATE must approve all
procedures and changes by a two-thirds
vote.

Dent said the bill was proposed because of
problems with the Homecoming selection
this year.
Presently, the Homecoming Selection
Committee selects five faculty judges and
sets criteria for selection.
The biggest change in the new proposal
means the Student Senate will approve the
criteria used by the judges.
"We decided the Senate should have a
aa^-au in me nuiuecuiiiing queen selection,
Dent said.
DENT SAID he wanted to avoid the
problems that occurred during the last
selection process. He said it was "a
situation that could have been explosive."
