At Haig Point, Michie said
deteriorated tabby structures dating
around 1820-1830 were found. Eating
utensils and a thimble were
discovered in the dirt floor of a slave
cabin. Thorough investigation of these
structures could reveal a pattern of
slavery, Michiesaid.
The team will return to Daufuskie in
January to investigate areas for more
archaeological sites. They will also
excavate the slave cabins and the
shell midden.
