Two Columbia men were charged with
trespassing and loitering with the intent to
sell drugs after they were arrested Wed
nesday in Moore dorm.
James Davis and Cleveland Moseley were
arrested after campus police were notified
that two men were going door to door asking
students if they wanted to buy marijuana.
When the two men were arrested, they had
in their possession a cellophane bag full of
marijuana; the value was unknown.

THE S.C. STATE HOSPITAL needs
volunteers to escort patients to the State
Fair Oct. 19,20 and 21.
Camille Amaker, director of volunteer
services, said staff members have been
transporting patients to the fair each year,
but volunteers are being recruited this year
to "go there with the patients and be with
them."

provide transportation.
Students can volunteer for any of the three
days and will have to be free from 12:30 p.m.
to 3:30 p.m. Interested persons should
contact Amaker at 758-7177.

CROP, an organization which is part of
Church World Services concern about world
hunger, will hold its annual CROP walk in
Columbia this Sunday.
The ten-mile walk, which starts at five
places around the city, will conclude with all
of the 1,500 to 2,000 walkers converging on
the State House grounds.
Steve Price, a Presbyterian chaplain and
USC CROP chairman, said the goal of this
year's fundraiser is $20,000. Last year, the
walk raised $13,000.

walk is available at the Presbyterian
Student Center and the Episcopal,
Lutheran, Methodist (ELM) Center or by
calling Steve Price at 799-0212.

THE LOCATION OF two events and the
time of the annual parade during the
Homecoming weekend have been changed.
The President's House on the Horseshoe
is the location of the annual President's

President James Holderman and USC
Alumni Association President Edward M.
Royall will greet guests.
The alumni awards luncheon honoring the
1982 distinguished alumnus Archbishop
Joseph L. Bernadin of Chicago will be at
Russell House Ballroom at 1 p.m. The
luncheon is $6 in advance and $7 at the door,
and the public may attend.
The Homecoming parade will begin at 3
p.m. at Main and Hampton streets and
proceed down Main Street, turning left on
Gervais Street and then right on Sumter
Street through the USC campus.

AN INTERDISCIPLINARY symposium
exploring the contributions of the medieval
friar St. Francis of Assisi will be held Oct. 8
and 9 in the Gambrell Hall auditorium.
"The Legacy of St. Francis," funded in
part by the South Carolina Committee for
the Humanities, will center on the
presentation of five papers exploring the
character and personality of St. Francis.
Speakers will emphasize the Franciscan
spirit both in humanistic studies as well as
in the world of fundamental human
aspirations and concerns. The conference is
sponsored by the Department of Philosopy.
Registration will be held Oct. 8 from 1:30
p.m. to 2:30 p.m. In addition to the paper
presentations and discussions, a dinner and
reception will be held on the evening of Oct.
8.
The two-day conference registration fee is
$3, which does not include the cost of the
dinner and reception.
