A proposal to increase allowed class
absences from 10 to 15 percent will be
recommended by the Student Senate
Academic Committee, its chairman said
Wednesday.
At the Student Senate meeting, Matt Ward
said Student Government will be asked to
suport the revised attendance policy. If
Student Government backs the proposal, a
resolution will be sent to the Faculty
Senate's Scholastic Standards and Petitions
Committee.
"This would mean two extra days per
class," Ward said.
FOK EXAMPLE, the four absences
allowed for Monday, Wednesday and Friday
classes would increase to six, and the two
days allowed for Tuesday and Thursday
classes would increase to four.
Ward said the 15 percent would apply to
courses in the 100-200 level. Upperclass level
courses should be attended at the students

"We have a pretty good working
relationship with the Faculty Senate now
concerning getting the absenteeism policy
on the agenda," Ward said.
The letter the Academic Committee wrote
concerning a guest list for football games to
SG President Ashley Abel was read and
approved by the Senate. The letter
suggested Abel keep a record of guests he
takes to each game and submit it to the
Athletic Committee. Kyle Pruitt, chairman
of the Athletic Committee, signed the letter.
