Saints' Rogers
From Staff Reports
Former Gamecock running back George
Rogers, who led the National Football
League in rushing with 1,674 yards his
rookie year, will probably miss two to four
games because of a puiled hamstring he
suffered in the New Orleans Saints' opening
game of the season.
"Playing without George is like having
Christmas without Santa Claus," Saints
coach Bum Phillips said.
Rogers pulled the hamstring while trying
to break a tackle at the end of a 19-yard
sweep Sunday against the St. Louis CarGamecock

IN ONE of the first games of the intramural
flag football season, Sargent
Slaughter's Commandos beat Riff Raff 18-9.
The Commandos took the field dressed in
Army uniforms smeared with mud, but Riff
Raff took the early lead on a drive led by
quarterback Tommy Johnson. Johnson
connected on a pass play with Bill Turner
and was successful on the point after to
bring the score to 7-0.
Commando quarterback Tommy Means
then hit John Sadler for a touchdown pass in
' the end zone. The second touchdown came
on a Means-to-Steve Lemmond pass.
