Bolden was in Columbia to speak at the annual USC Upward
Bound banquet Friday, July 9. The banquet was in
honor of his late father, Charles Bolden Sr., who inspired
hundreds of disadvantaged youth to pursue college ?

Bolden said that unlike many of his peers who have had Bol
lifelong dreams of being astronauts, he became interested in mo

Iden said he does not feel he has been called on to do an
xaordinary amount of work. "I have endured no more
orifices than anybody else who enjoys his work," Bolden

Golden credits his success in life with the DhilosoDhies his

3olden said his father's favorite saying was, "It's not the

'I feel closely associated with Upward Bound. My dad

BOLDEN ADVISED the Upward Bound students to
ecome the best mentally in whatever field you are in. Work
