-sports Ticket allotment increa Stadium at By Todd Shealy The addition of a new upper deck to Williams-Brice Stadium should allow every USC student who has paid his activity fee a ticket to any home football game, according to USC's ticket manager. Gary Goodman said the increased student allotment of 4,000 tickets should allow any full-time student, or part-time student who has paid his activity fee, to get a ticket to annual sellouts like Ciemson. I Witn 11,000 tickets available the past year, Mississippi and Clemson were the only games to use the total student allotment, according to Goodman. The 4,000 extra tickets should cover student demand for the most popular games, he said. GOODMAN EXPLAINED that seating for students, faculty and staff will basically remain in the lower deck, with the exception of the band's move from sections 40 and 41 to corner sections 33, 34 and 35. This move will benefit both students and the band, providing students with about 500 choirp location seats and giving the band better access to the field. Since band members will have three aisles to move up and down on instead of two, the halftime traffic problems should be lessened. Goodman said the new upper deck, adding about 18,000 seats, will be divided amoung USC students, Gamecock Club members Foster's Gampnnr.k tough opposition ti DePaul, Marquette, Purdue and Idaho are ? teams USC's men's basketball team will face d 83 season. Seating visiting fans in the new upper deck will make the entire west stands available for Gamecock Club members, Goodman said. He added that tickets not sold to club members or visiting teams will be made available to the general public, but he didn't expect many seats to go unsold. GOODMAN SAID the increase in stadium capacity has increased the ticket allocation for block seating. He said he has alreadv contacted Student Government and Greek organizations concerning their seating needs, and hopes to get other organizations, such as dorms, to apply for block seating. "We just want all the kids to come to the games, and with some of the freshmen, the chances of their coming are 4*etter if they can sit with their friends," Goodman said. He added that the more students turn in ID cards for block seating, fewer will miss class while standing in line for tickets. However, he said the best seats will be given to those students who pick up their tickets individually.
