the Oath of Hippocrates to its
second graduating class

ceremony, which begins at
3:30 p.m. In the event of
rain, the convocation will be
held in the auditorium of the
USC College of Business
Administration.
Dr. James H. Allen,
professor emeritus of

Medicine, will deliver the
convocation address,
"Medical Standards Under
Attack," to the graduating
class.
Allen, who earned his M.D.
degree at the University of
Michigan, has taught at
Tulane since 1937 and has
lectured at many other
medical schools around the
globe. He has edited and
published in a number of

named the recipient of many
awards for his work in
ophthalmology.
Among the awards
presented to Allen are the'
Beverly Meyers Nelson
Achievement Award for
meritorious contributions in
the field of vision, the
Egyptian Medical Syndicate
Medal, Distinguished Service
Award from the Societv
of Contemporary
Ophthalmology and the
Meritorius Service Award
from the Contact Lens
Association " of
Ophthalmologists.
Following Allen's address,
USC School of Medicine
Dean Dr. Roderick Macdonald
Jr. and Drs. Thomas
D. Darby, associate dean for
Academic Affairs, and
Alexander G. Donald,
associate dean for Student
Affairs, will present the
graduates with their hoods.
After the hooding ceremony,
James William Earnhardt
will give the response from
the graduating medical
school class.
