fresh air havemotivated students to open their windows, pack
their wool and winter wardrobe and renovate their rooms.

USC students took action Monday in an attempt to clear the
campus of garbage. Beer cans, bottles, cigarette butts, paper
and other debris were gathered from 2 -4 p.m. by a campus
clean-up committee sponsored by Budweiser, the Russell
House University Union and the Intra-ifJraternity Council.
The committee stemmed from a community program
called "We Care" sponsored by Leonard Price, president of
Budweiser. The clean-up committee is just one of many
services provided by the program.
Jeff- Grantz, Budweiser .representative, said the
motivation to develop the committee to clean the campus
came from an observation that most of the garbage on
campus consisted ot Deer cans. So Budweiser decided to
sponsor a spring clean-up for students to take pride in the
cleaniness of USC campus.
Participants received a free T-shirt from Budweiser and

was divided into sections and according to Greg Burke, USC
Budweiser representative and student, about 60 students

Most agreed that the free T-shirt had some influence on
their motivation. But most students felt that something
should be done with all those empty beer cans and bottles
laying all over campus grounds.
Scott Metzler, of Chi Psi fraternity, said, "I wanted to help
show my support for my fraternity and to keep USC campus
clean." Annette Cook, USC student, "I thought it was a good
idea, good exercise, and a free T-shirt."
Robin Ramsey, of Phi Kappa Psi fraternity, said, "I want
to get my fraternity motivated and involved to keep Carolina
clean."
Susan Cartwright, USC student, said, "Campus is loaded
with a lot of beer cans and bottles."
Mark Taylor, manager of Golden Spur, said he had a
"vested interest" to clean up but also felt that USC should be
clean.
Even though this was the first year the committee was
formed, Grantz hopes to form a clean-up every semester.
