USC Signs
Soccer Forward
University of South
Carolina Soccer Coach Mark
Berson has announced that
Steve Presing of Fairfax,
\ Va., has signed a grant-inaid
to play for the
Gamecocks next season.
Presing, a 5-10, 145-pound,
forward, plays for Robinson
High in Fairfax, which has a
1-1-1 record this season in
Virginia high school play. As
a junior, Presing led his
squad to a 9-3 record by
scoring a team-high nine
goals.
"Steve is one of those rare
individuals who has had the
knack of scoring goals
throughout his career,"
Berson said. "He has had
some excellent experience in
Europe and plays in the
highly competitive northern
Virginia area under a fine

"Steve is sound in his
fundamentals and is a
naturally left-footed player,
which will lend some
balance to our lineup,"
Berson added.

1, has been rescheduled for
Saturday, April 24 at 2 p.m.
at the Carolina Varsity
Soccer Field.

Nine members of the
Columbia Soccer Club are

team as players or coaches.
"We began our varsity
program in 1978, so our
alumni numbers aren't very
large," Carolina Soccer
Coach Mark Berson said.
"When the Columbia Soccer
Cluh won the right to com
pete in the nationals we lost
our entire alumni team!"

Waterski
Tournament
Lake Murray will be the
site of several weekend

them is the first waterski
tournament sponsored by

Clemson as well as eight
other universities will
compete with Carolina's
waterski club beginning
Saturday at 9:30 a.m., and
ending Sunday evening with
the men's jump.
Spectators can view the
tournament by land if they
take Highway 378 through
Lexington and turn right on
Wise Ferry Road. Take Wise
Ferry Road until it splits into
two dirt roads. Veer to the
right and follow that road all
the way to the water.
Other schools participating
are the University
of Georgia, Georgia Tech,
Auburn University, North
Carolina State, Davidson
University, University of
North Carolina, and
University of Tennessee.
Tom Hughes Marine and
Mid-Carolina Marine are
assisting USC in sponsoring
the tournament.
