"Freedom's Legacy" is perhaps Smotherman's most
effective cut. It is at once a love song and a study of contrasts
between self survival and human rights. These are
ideas that are difficult to translate into a three minute time
span, but is done well enough to evoke some inner emotion
in the listener.
If Michael Smotherman had been released in the middle
of his career, it would've boon hie ua

those of us who appreciate music that is simultaneously
interesting and good.
